1.Overview
You can delete your ModMage account and the personal data tied to it at any time, free of charge. There are three ways to do it, and all of them lead to the same result:
- In the mobile app — on iOS or Android, under Settings.
- In the web app — signed in at https://app.modmage.io, under Workspace settings.
- By email — write to us from your account email address and we’ll process the request after verifying your identity.
When you confirm deletion, we immediately disable your account so it can no longer be used to sign in, then permanently erase your personal data from our production systems and, on a rolling cycle, from our backups. A limited set of records that we are legally required to keep (for example, payment and tax records) is retained for the period the law requires and then deleted. The sections below explain exactly what is removed, what is kept, and how long each step takes.
Deletion is permanent. Once the process completes, your workspace content cannot be recovered — by you or by us. If you only want to step away temporarily, consider signing out or removing the app instead, or contact support@modmage.io about pausing your plan.
2.Delete in the mobile app
The steps are the same on the ModMage app for iOS and the Android app (package io.modmage.app):
- Open the ModMage app and make sure you are signed in.
- Tap your profile or avatar, then open Settings.
- Select Account.
- Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete account.
- Read the on-screen summary of what will be removed, then type your email address or password to confirm.
- Tap Delete account one final time to confirm. This starts the permanent deletion process described in section 6.
If you manage more than one workspace, the app will ask which workspace you want to leave or delete. Deleting the workspace you own removes its content for everyone; leaving a workspace you don’t own only removes your own access and personal data. Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account on its own — you must complete the steps above.
3.Delete in the web app
- Sign in at https://app.modmage.io with your account email and password.
- Open Workspace settings from the main navigation menu.
- Select the Account tab.
- Click Delete account.
- Review the confirmation dialog, which lists what will be deleted and what we are required to retain, then type your workspace name to confirm.
- Click Delete account to finish. We’ll send a confirmation to your account email and begin permanent deletion.
Only an account owner can delete a workspace and its underlying data. If you are a member rather than the owner, the web app lets you remove your own membership and personal profile; ask the workspace owner, or email us, to delete shared workspace content.
4.Request by email
If you can’t access the app or web app, you can ask us to delete your account for you. Email privacy@modmage.io (or support@modmage.io) from the email address registered on your account, using the subject line “Delete my account”. Please include:
- Your full name.
- The email address associated with your ModMage account.
- The name of the workspace or property organization you want deleted.
To protect your account, we verify your identity before acting on any emailed request — for example, by confirming you control the account email or by asking you to complete an in-app step. Sending the request from your registered email speeds this up. Once verified, we begin deletion on the timeline in section 6 and confirm by email when it completes. We never charge for handling a deletion request.
5.What gets deleted
Here is what happens to each category of data when you delete your account:
| Data | What happens | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Profile & login | Deleted | Your name, email, password, profile photo, and authentication tokens are permanently removed. |
| Workspace content (properties, units, leases, tickets) | Deleted | Maintenance requests, messages, documents, and other content you own are erased from production systems. |
| Payment records & invoices | Retained | Kept as required for tax, accounting, and audit obligations — typically up to 7 years — then deleted. |
| Backups | Purged | Removed on a rolling cycle as older backup snapshots expire, within 90 days. |
| Aggregated / anonymized analytics | May be retained | Stripped of identifiers so it no longer relates to you; kept for product and usage statistics. |
6.Timelines
Once you confirm deletion (or we verify an emailed request), the process runs on the following schedule:
- Immediately — your account is disabled and can no longer be used to sign in or access any workspace.
- Within 30 days — your personal data is permanently erased from our active, production systems.
- Within 90 days — your data is purged from our encrypted backups as older snapshots age out of rotation.
- For their statutory period — records we are legally required to keep, such as payment and tax documents, are retained and isolated from active use, then deleted when the obligation ends.
We do not reuse, sell, or share data that is queued for deletion. Data held in backups during the purge window is not restored to production and is protected by encryption and access controls.
7.Residents and tenants
If you are a resident or tenant using ModMage through your property manager, your data is generally controlled by that property manager or management company — they decide what is collected and how long it is kept. In data-protection terms they are the controller and ModMage, Inc. is the processor acting on their instructions.
To have your resident data deleted, contact your property manager directly; they can remove it through their ModMage workspace. ModMage assists the manager with these requests, and if you write to us we will verify your identity and forward your request to the responsible property manager so it can be actioned. Some records — such as lease and payment history — may need to be retained by your property manager for legal or accounting reasons even after a request. See our Privacy Policy for how controller and processor roles work.
8.What’s retained and why
A small amount of data outlives an account deletion, and only for specific reasons:
- Legal and accounting — invoices, payment records, and tax documents must be kept for the periods set by applicable law.
- Fraud and abuse prevention — limited records may be retained to protect our platform and other users, and to enforce our Acceptable Use Policy and Terms of Service.
- Anonymized analytics — data that has been irreversibly stripped of identifiers, so it no longer relates to you as an individual.
Retained data is minimized, access-controlled, and deleted once the underlying obligation ends. For the full retention schedule, see the retention section of our Privacy Policy.
9.Reactivation
Account deletion is irreversible. Once the process completes, we cannot restore your profile, workspace, or content, and there is no grace period to undo it after the final confirmation. If your account email becomes available again, you are always welcome to create a new ModMage account later — but it will start fresh, with none of your previous data.
If you are unsure whether to delete, reach out to support@modmage.io before you confirm — we’re happy to help you export what you need or explore alternatives.
